Welcome to our recently updated website, which I hope will offer something for everyone - information for parents and friends of the school as well as interactive pages for the children to enjoy.

The School:

I started as headteacher at East Craigs in January 2004 and throughout my time, the school has been reviewed by the HMIe and the City of Edinburgh Education Department and the Nursery inspected by the HMIe and Care Commission. Both reports were extremely positive for the school and have enabled staff to work together closely to ensure that the aims of the school are met and that high standards are maintained.

The staff at East Craigs are privileged to share in the educational and personal development and achievements of the children who attend and are concerned at all times with pupils' attainment and wider achievements in order to ensure that every child makes the most of his or her abilities.

The School in Context:

East Craigs is a non-denominational primary school which was built in 1978. It is situated in the Corstorphine area of North West Edinburgh.

The catchment area comprises significant areas of owner occupied

housing and the school has extensive playing fields attached.

The school building has 14 class bases, a Support for Learning base, a gym hall, television room, a music room and a library.

The school also has a purpose build nursery block which accommodates 40 children in the morning and 40 children in the afternoon.

Over the last few years, the school has been undergoing extensive building works:-

Phase 1 has provided us with a new main entrance and school administration block with 3 new office areas.

This was opened in October 2004.

Phase 2

was completed in August 2005.

This consisted of a new extension housing 6 class bases. and a refurbishment of the Primary 1 area.

Phase 3 involved knocking down walls in our existing class/activity areas to create 6 new larger classrooms. This work was completed in August 2008.
